Over the past five years, Rock & Republic jeans has transcended the premium denim world, becoming an international lifestyle brand. Its luxe yet edgy approach to fashion is personified by CEO and CreativeDirector Michael Ball. Constantly redefining the boundaries in the fashion industry, Rock & Republic is at the forefront of design.
In 2006, Rock & Republic jeans expanded to include a phenomenally successful line of accessories consisting of footwear, handbags and eyewear. With the launch of Rock & Republic Cosmetics in 2008, the company adds yet another exciting piece to its high fashion portfolio.
Furthering the company as a true lifestyle brand, Rock & Republic is using its momentum in fashion to influence the worlds of sports and philanthropy. In 2007 Michael Ball fulfilled one of his own personal lifetime ambitions by announcing Rock & Republic as the first fashion brand to create a professional cycling team, Rock & Republic, which has already revolutionized the sport by putting a sexy edge into cycling.
With this division of the brand growing at such speed, the future holds endless opportunities including Moto GP and Formula 1 Racing. It is evident that with the launch of these new product categories Michael will not stop until he has achieved global domination; but he also desires global change.
Rock the Cure, the company's groundbreaking philanthropic foundation, is the means to that end. The foundation encourages people to "make a difference, lead by example and Rock the Cure" by donating 100% of the profits to charity.
This year’s recipient is the City of Hope whose mission is the research, education and treatment of life threatening diseases. Every season, Rock & Republic jeans captivates audiences with its fashion forward runway shows, legendary events and trailblazing ideas. Clearly the future ROCKS.
Michael Ball, CEO & Creative Director Rebellious. Rambunctious. Rocker. Rider. Michael Ball is anything but your average CEO. Rock & Republic began with a single, now legendary pair of jeans and in just five short years, Ball has transformed Rock & Republic into the most successful luxury denim brand in the world and a dominant player in the premium luxe lifestyle market.
A native of Southern California, Ball discovered cycling at a young age and by the late 80s, became one of the fastest and most aggressive cyclists on the professional circuit. During his racing days Ball created race-day wear for his team. After an unfortunate racing crash put his competitive days on hold, Ball forged a partnership with Xerox that launched the technology giant into the fashion business.
After designing a killer pair of jeans for his girlfriend, Ball launched Rock & Republic in 2002. The first collection meshed an edgy rebellious style with sophisticated femininity. Today, the Rock & Republic brand is still synonymous with a rock and roll lifestyle and a quality previously absent from the market.
With Ball at the helm, Rock & Republic is now a global fashion powerhouse with multiple collections sold in eighty-six countries. Ball returned to his lifelong passion for cycling with the formation of Rock Racing in 2007, the professional team of champion racers that has put the “edge” back in cycling.
Ever the pioneer, Ball formed Rock the Cure in the same year, a groundbreaking charitable division dedicated to making a significant difference in the fight against life-threatening diseases, uniquely dedicating an incredible 100% of the profits to the causes. Ball received several honors in 2007 including the induction into the CFDA, the Spirit of Life Award from City of Hope, and the Hollywood Style Award for Fashion Visionary.
